 The Salisbury Arms was the first CAMRA PUB. It retains to this day a wonderful reputation for its real ales, no less than eight well kept choices at any given time. This rises to 16 during its bi-annual beer festivals.

We are now tied to Charles Wells but the quality of their ales and the wonderful choice of guest ales provide something for everyone’s taste. During the last seven months we have featured over 30 guests from St Austell, Butcombe, Brains, Bager, Castle Rock, Adnams, J.W Lees, Youngs, Fullers and Everards to name but a few. Wells famous Banana Bread Beer is always available in bottles and makes an appearance once a year as a seasonal cask,Youngs double chocolate stout is also on sale ('What a waste of good chocolate!' says Angela). Erdinger wheat beer is also proving very popular. Crones Organic Cider on handpump at 7.5abv is not for the faint hearted. Lagers on draught include Red Stripe (Jamaican) Kirin (Japanese) as well as Carlsberg. Guinness and Scrumpy jack both are popular as is the Hot Mulled Wine that is available during the colder months

IPA long-standing favourite within Charles Wells' heartland and famed for it's rare, notably dry-bitter finish, Wells Eagle IPA (Alc. 3.6% Vol.) is starting to emulate the nationwide success of its premium bitter stable-mate, Wells Bombardier.

A Supreme Champion Ale of Cornwall as voted by CAMRA*, Tribute is a popular favourite with locals and visitors to Cornwall, as well as being a much sought after guest ale throughout the rest of the UK. It is brewed using specially grown Cornish Gold Malt and is a perfect accompaniment to chicken, gammon or fish. The ideal alternative to a fine white wine.
A classic bitter that has gained cult status among cask ale drinkers. Amber in colour, Young's Special has a fruity, slightly estery nose with a good hop aroma and full round flavour, a fine balance between malt and hops. 100% malt brew: Maris Otter and crystal malt together with Fuggle and Golding hops.
Erdinger Weissbier is brewed using fine yeast according to a traditional recipe and, of course, in strict accordance with the Bavarian Purity Law. Even today, the beer is still fermented in the traditional way; it takes three to four weeks for Erdinger Weissbier 'with fine yeast' to mature. Only the finest ingredients are used in its production. Years of experience and constant quality checks guarantee the beer's unmistakable flavor.
